Etapes de la construction du labo

Dear Colleagues and friends,

I am writing to invite you to an informal meeting (Chablis oblige) which is going to take place next Friday from 4 to 5:30 pm in the teachers’ office/room (next to the RLC) at King’s College London.

One Situation
Most of the language teachers love their work, but don’t know one other and have just few rare opportunities to meet during the year.
As a result some of them complain about being lonely, in low spirits, always working a lot and on their own, and lacking of stimulations.

An answer to cheer them up
Hence, some of us have suggested to found a Language Teacher Training Centre (LTTC) to remedy the situation, where we could meet together regularly, share ideas and experiences, through discussions/ screenings/lectures/book presentations about many different subjects but mainly about languages, language aquisitions, language teaching, plurilingualism, cross-cultural awareness etc.

This Training Centre would aim at forming a community of language teachers who slowly also would become researchers of their own classrooms and at acquiring a drastically improved morale.
This LTTC would be opened to all language teachers of King’s College London, not only French teachers.

So, if you are interested in this project, please join the meeting “Fais péter le Chablis” and help us implementing it.

On Friday, the programme of the meeting will consist of:
– creating a committee (I am aware that only French teachers are in the list of addressees, as I don’t know very well teachers from other languages). However, we will have to open the committee further to teachers of other languages)
– writing a charter in English (commitment of members)
– designing a weekly programme of activities
– and drinking Chablis

Then, if the meeting is fruitful, we could submitt the Modern Language Center board a specific request in order to make official this Language Teacher Training Centre.

I am looking forward to seeing you next Friday and I hope that a large number of you will come!
Best Regards!

ps: for those who are interested in this project but are unavailable to attend the meeting on Friday from 4 to 5:30pm, please let me know. I will send you the report.
